As 2008 dawned, thousands of Americans updated their new year’s diet resolutions. With the demand for better and brighter weight loss information, dieting companies also updated. We have all seen many diet plans on the market and they all claim to be the best, but how do you know which ones will work and which ones are healthy? The tried and true method for weight loss will always be the most difficult for many people: diet and exercise. Luckily, NutriSystem Advanced has improved their plan and made it bolder and better than ever for 2008. THE PLANS

NutriSystem Advanced offers seven different plans to fit a broader range of dieters: women, men, women’s silver, men’s silver, women’s diabetic, men’s diabetic, and vegetarian. Having this diverse of a program allows almost anyone to participate who otherwise would struggle to find a weight loss plan that works with their specific needs.

NutriSystem Advanced has also integrated omega-3 fatty acids as well as heart healthy fibers into their meals to promote additional wellness and nutrition. This new complex allows dieters who have high cholesterol to participate and not only lose weight, but improve their cardiovascular system and their cholesterol levels. NutriSystem Advanced also promotes ‘good carbs’ with low Glycemic levels in their products to provide energy and maintain healthy blood sugar as well as insulin levels. For 2008, NutriSystem Advanced has released more than 60 new products containing more than 120 new items. This will surely give dieters an entirely new perspective on how easy and enjoyable dieting can actually be.

EXERCISE

With any new diet comes the need to exercise. Without exercise, healthy weight loss simply cannot be achieved. NutriSystem Advanced provides copious amounts of information on how to exercise, stay active, and most importantly how to have fun. Every NutriSystem Advanced program comes with a new exercise DVD that targets your needs and body type. NutriSystem Advanced teaches that you do not need to spend hours and hours at the gym in order to lose weight; and that you can simply burn calories and shed fat by staying active and incorporating exercise into your every day activities. By following this fun and simple format, you are already taking your first step to achieving the healthier and thinner you!

As many people this year reach for diet pills and weight loss shakes, reach for NutriSystem Advanced. NutriSystem Advanced is not a ‘cure-all miracle plan’; it is a sane, reasonable, and healthy approach to dieting. There is no such thing as a magic diet pill – and if they claim to be, the chances that they actually work and are healthy are slim to none.

Diet Plans - Popular Diet Plans Review

Diet Plans - Popular Diet Plans Review

Author: Christine Patterson

Typically when diet plans and weight loss programs are compared, it's done to show you things like differences in price, foods you can and can not eat, and which ones are easier to follow. It's safe to say that this comparison is going to be a little bit different.

The Atkins Diet Plan:

The Atkins Diet is a high-protein, high-fat and low-carbohydrate weight-loss diet popularized by Dr. Robert C. Atkins. It is a form of ketogenic diet.

The science behind how the Atkins diet helps you to lose weight is simple. When you eat very few carbohydrates (which are your usual main source of energy), the body goes into what is called a 'ketogenic state' where it must rely on stored fat for energy. As a result, you burn fat quickly and begin to lose weight. This process also makes the body produce compounds called ketones, which initially give dieters a 'buzz' or euphoric feeling. Most dieters don't feel deprived on low-carbohydrates diets for the first several days because they are eating meals high in fat.

Weight Watchers Diet Plan:

Weight Watchers is a diet program which combines weight loss and exercise ideas. As a membership incentive system it offers special foods, cookbooks and exercise plans for a fee.

Weight Watchers points are awarded for success and the dieter has the support of Weight Watchers groups around the world and chapter members from his or her local group. The advantages are that one can lose weight with others, having the support of others who are fighting the same battles. Weight Watcher products are readily available, and there are hundreds of web sites for support.

Jenny Craig Weight Loss Program:

The Jenny Craig program offers personalized diet plans, and offers guidance at weekly meetings at Jenny Craig centers.

Participants must follow their personal meal plan, consisting of pre-packaged 'Jenny' meals along with healthy fruits and vegetables. The plan encourages healthy lifestyle changes and moderate eating. Clients get a personal touch as they work with counselors to find out their unique caloric needs, and can adjust their goals accordingly.

The Slim-Fast Plan:

Slim-Fast consists of meal-replacement shakes, snack bars and one real-food dinner, giving a total of around 1200 calories in a single day.

Slim-Fast has been designed to make weight-loss as easy as possible. There is nothing to count, no need to measure portions, you don't need to eliminate anything from your diet; all foods are OK, and no foods are forbidden. The plan involves 6 small meals/snacks per day, using Slim-Fast products for two meals and a snack and the rest of the day you're on your own, to prepare a "sensible" dinner. Once you reach your weight-loss goal, just replace one meal a day with a Slim-Fast meal and stick with the healthy lifestyle changes that you have made, such as exercising, and you will maintain your weight.

The NutriSystem Diet Meal Plan:

The NutriSystem Diet entails eating mainly prepackaged NutriSystem meals until you reach your desired weight. For about $300 you get 28 days worth of entrees, snacks, and desserts delivered to your home.

You begin this diet by selecting the program that best meets your needs: Women’s, Men’s, Silver for Women, Silver for Men, Type 2 Diabetes, or Vegetarian. You can then either let NutriSystem select your meals or you can choose for yourself. Standard programs, such as Women's or Men's, offer over 300 different meals to choose from. But subscribers to the other programs have a more limited selection; for example, the vegetarian program lets you choose from about 60 entrees and desserts). Once you enroll in a program, the meals that you select will be delivered to your home. The meals are designed to be quick and convenient and don't even require refrigeration.

The South Beach Diet:

The South Beach Diet emphasizes normal portions of lean proteins such as fish and chicken; unlimited amounts of low-glycemic-index vegetables; ample amounts of healthy fats such as olive and canola oil, nuts and avocados; and small portions of "healthy carbs" found in fruit and less-processed grains.

By following this way of eating, the plan promises positive changes in markers of cardiovascular health: lower cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels, along with increased HDL cholesterol levels. There are three phases in this diet. Dieters are encouraged to move back and forth between the different phases as needed to maintain their weight loss.

Phase I is the most restrictive and lasts for two weeks. It emphasizes lean proteins, fat-free or low-fat cheese, nuts, eggs, tofu, legumes, healthy types of fat and low-glycemic-index vegetables. Phase II reintroduces fruit, whole grain bread, rice, pasta and fat-free milk and yogurt. Dieters stay on Phase II until they've lost their desired amount of weight. Phase III is for maintenance and should be followed for life.

In summary, there is more than one way to lose weight. Include a fitness routine no matter how small, and you're guaranteed an easier time bridging the weight loss gap.

Dieting Tips For Weight Loss

Dieting Tips For Weight Loss

Author: Tk Healey

Keep A Diary Of What You Eat

I think you will be very surprised if before you start your diet you keep a journal of what you eat and at what times. Do this for about a week. Then study your journal and see where you can cut back and find out at what times are you eating that could cause problems. If you find you are having a snack at 10 pm at night. Try bringing the time time in. You never what to eat to soon before you go to bed.

Buy Diet Food Prepared

What can make dieting hard to stick to is the preparation? Having the diet food available to you also means having to go shopping then come home and prepare your healthy meal. Now a days it seems everyone is so rushed with no time to spare. Would it not be easier to have your diet meal already prepared for you? There are a few diet nutrition food programs that will actually ship the food right to your door. Talk about convenience. I know of a few diets that deliver food, Atkins At Home, Diet To Your Door, Diet To Go, eDiets - Fresh Cuisine, Jenny Direct, Nutrisystem, Sunfare and Zone Chefs.

Smaller Plates To Help Lose Weight

Use smaller plates to help you lose weight. This will give you smaller portions but may fool the eyes. Never feel you have to finish everything on your plate. This does not mean you have to throw food out. You can store diet food for later. If you feel full, stop.

Snacks Ready To Eat

Have healthy snacks ready to eat. Instead of grabbing for the chips have carrot slices ready to grab. You will still get that sensation of crunchy with a more healthy nutritious choice.

Water, Water, Water

If you do some research regarding dieting one thing you will hear over and over is to drink plenty of water. Not only will water help to fill you up so you do not eat to much, but it is also great for your appearance. Water is the best beauty treatment. It flushes out the impurities and gives you great looking skin.

Drinking water can also improve muscle tone. Muscles having all the water they need contract easier. Drinking water can give you a more effective workout when you exercise.

You should drink at least 8 8 oz glasses of water a day and more if you are more than 25 pounds over weight. For every 25 lbs I would drink another 8 oz glass of water.

Keep water by you. Use a straw if that will help you drink more.

Good luck and stick with it. Take it day by day. I also recommend only weighing your self once a week. As always before you start any diet or exercise program check with your doctor first.

Diet and Exercise: Weight Loss Issues for Men

Diet and Exercise: Weight Loss Issues for Men

Author: Stephen Ashton

One of the many issues for men regarding weight loss is approaching a diet in a realistic way. While some men may affirm they are exercising, this does not necessarily mean they are losing pounds; in fact, they may be gaining muscle. Diet and exercise become weight loss issues for men as they age.

While we all know that one to two pounds per week is sufficient weight loss for most people, it is the morbidly obese who may be required to lose weight more rapidly. Having said that, weight has become a major issue as obesity is on the rise. Whether you are genetically predisposed to gain weight, which is open to debate; you are big-boned; or just generally gain weight more than your siblings or other members of your family, it is important to note that gaining weight consists of many factors. How much do you eat? What types of foods do you consume? Are you sedentary or active?

In order to take a common sense approach to losing weight, men should engage in a regular exercise routine accompanied by a proper nutritional diet, which does not include fast foods; fats; sodium; alcohol and sugars. Men need protein and fiber in their diet. Of course, there are direct links to weight and prostate cancer; high blood pressure; diabetes and other conditions which may occur.

To determine how much weight to lose is dependent upon any health factors, which only your doctor can check. It is estimate that losing just five to ten percent of your weight can benefit your health. While dieting for men is not an easy task; it may be a necessary one. As men age, problems associated with overweight begin to reveal themselves which then puts you in a position of having to lose the pounds; no ifs, ands, or buts. If you are overweight, look into a proper diet and exercise regimen that fits your lifestyle. Cut down on unnecessary snacks; beer; and all of the fried foods and steaks you have been consuming. Choose lean meats, and non-fact products that provide fiber and nutrients which may be lacking in your diet.

To diet and exercise now will afford you a longer and healthier life. While these weight loss issues for men may be waved away with a flick of the finger, think about your life and all of the things you want to do. Perhaps you are near retirement. Do you want to spend it taking daily medication or trips to the doctor or hospital? No, of course you don't; who would? Talk to a nutritionist to find out what foods you can eat. With the way foods are prepared today, you can enjoy a delicious meal without sacrificing taste. Take care of your health.

Diet Plan for Men

We've all heard about the NutriSystem Diet Plan for women, but there is also one for men as well. What's so great about this program is that it contains the vital nutrients and protein men are lacking in their diets. Let's take a look at Men's NutriSystem Diet Plan to determine how it can help a loved one or family member lose weight.

First, it is important to explain what this plan encompasses. It consists of 7 hearty breakfasts; 7 lunches; 7 dinners; and 7 desserts that will satisfy you even more.

In addition, it includes burgers, pizza, hot dogs, lasagna, pot roast, tacos and scrambled eggs. Using the Glycemic Index which contains good carbs; these meals are perfectly portioned to give you the right balance of fats, carbs, calories, and proteins. Here are some of the foods available to you on this diet plan.

For breakfast, some of the selections are: scrambled eggs with cheese; scrambled eggs with veggie sausage crumble; cranberry orange pastry; pancake mix; blueberry flavored pancake mix; chocolate chip pancake mix, and more. For lunch, you can choose from: chest tortellini; chicken and pasta in cacciatore sauce; pasta with beef; pasta parmesan with broccoli; cheesy home style potatoes with broccoli; turkey hot dogs; whipped sweet potatoes with cheese, and more. For dinner, Basil chicken breast with tomato sauce; cheese ravioli with basil tomato sauce; hearty beef stew; mash potatoes with meatloaf and tomato sauce; pot roast and gravy over beef, potatoes and vegetables; southwestern chicken with sauce, and I think you get the idea! The dessert menu is a surprise; but you can be sure you will have more choices than you may think.

There is even a diet for older men. You may have seen Don Schula promote this one on TV. In fact, NutriSystem also incorporates a Diabetic Type II program which has more than 90 prepared meals for those of you who need to watch your sugar intake and other dietary concerns.

You may want to check out this diet plan, as men's NutriSystem Plan has incorporated 70 new meals just for men. Certainly, if you need to diet and do not know where to begin, why not try this particular plan for a week and see how it goes. You may find it will help you choose the proper nutrition and diet right for you. You have nothing to lose, except weight. In fact, if your spouse is on the same plan; you can both diet together. At least you won't be eating a salad while your wife is enjoying a delicious meal on this plan. Dieting together will make it so much easier for you; and healthier too.

Nutrisystem: Meals the Easy and Quick Way

Nutrisystem: Meals the Easy and Quick Way

NutriSystem is the weight-loss plan that compliments even the most hectic of schedules. This online diet center will deliver healthy meals, and even dessert, right to your home. On the NutriSystem plan, you'll eat five times a day- three meals and two snacks. These meals combine a nutritious balance of carbs (55%), protein (25%) and finally fat (20%).

The NutriSystem program includes a meal plan with 120 delicious pre-packed options for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and desserts! You select the foods you want online or over the phone and they are shipped right to your door, no cooking involved. All you have to do is add a few ingredients like fresh vegetables and fruits. After all, who has time to hunt down special ingredients for low-fat cooking, or to prepare one diet meal for yourself and something else for the rest of your family? All of the meals are perfectly portioned so there is no weighing, measuring, or counting calories or points. And if you have any questions, a counselor, nutritionist, and dietitian are a phone call or e-mail away.

The foods in the Nutrisystem program are designed based on the Glycemic Index. They are low in fat and include the right amounts of protein, fiber, and good carbohydrates. This balance of ingredients makes each of the meals easy for your body to digest and turn into energy, without spikes in your blood sugar that can lead to energy crashes. Instead, you get to eat tasty meals five times a day that help you stay full and provide constant energy levels so that you have plenty of motivation to workout. Best of all, the meals aren’t standard diet fare. You get to have burgers, lasagna, pizza, and even chocolate desserts! It’s much easier to stick to a diet when you get to eat the things you love without feeling guilty.

Macaroni and Cheese, Chicken Noodle Soup, Chicken Parmesan, tacos and tasty treats like almond biscotti and blueberry lemon bars are just a sampling of the more than 100 delicious meals you'll find online at NutriSystem. Each meal is pre-packaged and prepared to the appropriate portion size.

The NutriSystem Nourish plan's foundation is in eating Low Glycemic foods to meet the daily carbohydrate requirement. The body breaks down Low Glycemic foods slower than High Glycemic foods and maintains blood sugar, while High Glycemic foods result in sudden increases in insulin and break down quickly in the body. Foods high in protein and fiber are the best sources for Low Glycemic foods, which raise metabolism and maintain a feeling of fullness.

With six varied plans, NutriSystem can meet your individual needs. These plans include the Men's Program and Women's Program, Women Over 60 and Men Over 60, Type II Diabetic and All-Vegetarian program.

Nutrisystem Review - A Review of the Nutrisystem Nourish Program

Nutrisystem Review - A Review of the Nutrisystem Nourish Program

Author: Vienna Miller

Thinking about trying the Nutrisystem diet?

Although the Nutrisystem diet is one of the most popular diet programs in the world, not every plan is right for each individual. If you're considering this diet program, here's a few things you need to know before deciding:

Nutrisystem Review:

NutriSystem has been in the weight loss business since 1972, making them one of the most experienced diet systems in the world.

They were one of the first programs to go online and deliver their food directly to the client's door - a smart move that has made them one of the most successful diet delivery services today.

Nutrisystem's diet delivery program is called Nutrisystem Nourish and is based on a diet of low Glycemic, 'good carb' foods. The meals are also low in fat and include enough protein and fibre to help keep your blood sugar stable.

Their weight loss program includes breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert every day (plus other fruits and vegetables that you buy yourself).

How the Diet Works:

You choose the program that fits your needs (Women's, Men's, Women's Over 60, Men's Over 60, Type II Diabetic or Vegetarian). Then choose the foods you'd like to eat from 120 prepackaged entrees, snacks and desserts.

You'll select one breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert for each day. (You can also elect to choose the 'Favorites' menu where the meals are chosen for you based on popularity)

You order 28 days at a time. Once you place your 28-Day order, your food will arrive around 6-10 business days later, along with a Welcome Kit featuring a checkbook-sized Meal Planner.

The planner outlines your daily meals and guides you on how to proceed with your program day to day.

When you receive your meals, you don't need to refrigerate or freeze them. They can be stored at room temperature in a cupboard or on the countertop. They come with heating instructions and usually take about 5-10 minutes to prepare.

While there are several other similar diet delivery programs on the market, one of the best things about Nutrisystem is the tremendous support their clients receive like:

Online or Phone Counselling

Nutrisystem Nourish Catalog

Daily Dose Motivational Message

Online Newsletter

Online Classes

Online Bulletin Boards and Chat Rooms

Online Weight Loss and Fitness Diaries

Member Profile Section

The website itself is simple, easy to navigate, and find answers. It offers Live Help and plenty of inspiring before-and-after pictures of real people who have lost weight with the program.

Unfortunately sometimes 'diet' meals can taste bland and boring. Nutrisystem has tried to get around this problem by explanding their menu and adding several new items.

What kind of meals do you get on the program? Here are some menu examples:

- Scrambled Eggs with Peppers and Mushrooms

- Chicken and Pasta in Cacciatore Sauce

- Pot Roast - Gravy over Beef, Potatoes and Vegetables

- Cheese Ravioli with Basil Tomato Sauce

- Chocolate Fudge Cake

Overall Conclusion:

Nutrisystem Nourish has probably the best track record of any diet delivery service - having been one of the first companies to take weight loss online.

They've been around long enough to work out the kinks in their system and give clients what they need in terms of support while they're losing weight.

The meals are not necessarily 'gourmet' meals, however they are quite appetizing, easy-to-prepare and extremely affordable - starting around $11 a day.

The selection is excellent and it's also a bonus that you can choose your menu items - which you cannot do with some other diet delivery programs.

Bottom Line? Compared to many other diet delivery programs, Nutrisystem is much more affordable ($11 a day), offers you lots of support tools, and a wide variety of meals that you get to choose yourself. Accordig to the website you can expect to lose 10 pounds in 5 weeks - which is reasonable weight loss goal.

All in all, a good value. (As with any life change of course, consult your doctor before making any changes to your diet.)

NutriSystem Weight Loss Planning

NutriSystem Weight Loss Planning

Author: J. Brian Keith

Would you like to find out what those-in-the-know have to say about NutriSystem Weight Loss Planning? The information in the article below comes straight from well-informed experts with special knowledge about NutriSystem Weight Loss Planning.

Think about what you've read so far. Does it reinforce what you already know about NutriSystem Weight Loss Planning? Or was there something completely new? What about the remaining paragraphs?

Beef Stroganoff with noodles...basil chicken with tomato sauce...tuna casserole...turkey with dumplings. These might not sound like diet foods, but they are, according to the NutriSystem diet program. The program offers separate pre-packaged food plans for women in general, men in general, diabetics, and vegetarians. And, according to medical research, dieters who use a plan such as NutriSystem lose 30 percent more weight over a period of four months than people who follow other weight loss programs.

Visit the NutriSystem website at www.nutrisystem.com, and you'll find a number of testimonials from successful dieters. For instance, there's Janet Z, who lost 24 pounds and is quoted as saying, "My favorite thing about the NutriSystem program is the convenience of it all, the variety of food, and the fact that this Italian girl can eat pasta every night if she wants to!"

And then there is Nicole S., who lost 28 pounds. Nicole states, "I thought it was extremely easy. I carried them in my bag and there were plenty of choices. I never got bored and I'd say that it's foolproof."

The NutriSystem plan offers you food that ranks at the low end of the Glycemic Index, which determines the effect of carbohydrates on blood sugar. Those foods that lead to stable blood sugar have a low Glycemic Index ranking. The idea is that, by following the NutriSystem program, you will end up burning fat. The plan requires you to eat five times a day in order to speed up your metabolism.

Originally, Dr. Jay Satz began the NutriSystem program as a diet plan which offered dieters only 400 to 500 calories per day of nutrition. Today, the calorie allowance at NutriSystem is much more generous. The program offers 140 different meals, from pancakes to fettuccini alfredo, and from cheesy potatoes to chili with beans. Satz himself is partial to the chicken marsala for his main entrée and chocolate crunches for dessert.

Backers of the NutriSystem program say that it offers appropriate nutrition, enabling an individual to lose weight without sacrificing valuable nutrients. The food portions are determined for you, so you do not have to worry about eating too much. Also, since the food is sent right to your home, the program receives high marks in the convenience category.

There is no need to visit a NutriSystem center, although you can call a weight loss counselor for support. Membership is free and includes unlimited counseling, newsletters, online classes, a computerized weight control diary, and online chat rooms. Also, when you enroll in the program, you will receive a complimentary diet analysis.

With the NutriSystem program, you end up eating 55 percent of your calories from low-glycemic carbs, 25 percent from protein, and 20 percent from fat. The plan is low in sodium and derives less than five percent of its calories from trans and saturated fats. The meat tends to be lean and low-fat, while whole grain foods are also plentiful in the meal plan. Under NutriSystem's guidance, you'll eat more than four cups of fruits and vegetables a day—the amount advised by federal health officials.

Another advantage to the NutriSystem program is that it enables you to plan meals far in advance. Generally speaking, you begin with four week's worth of products, enabling you to have enough meals and snacks for a full 28 days. If you choose, however, you can order as much as ten week's worth of food.

Primary advantages to the NutriSystem plan include the fact that it is highly easy to use, since you will have food delivered directly to your door. The menus also tend to be rich in nutrients, making the meals a healthy choice. One of the major disadvantages, however, is that you will not learn how to shop for healthy food or learn how to prepare it, since the choices are made for you. Also, you may not like the NutriSystem food, which may make it difficult to stick with the program. In addition, the program can cost you hundreds of dollars—an investment you might not be prepared to make. Moreover, some health experts say that you are far better off working with a registered dietician than trying to follow a prepackaged meal plan.

That's the latest from the NutriSystem Weight Loss Planning authorities. Once you're familiar with these ideas, you'll be ready to move to the next level.
